SOMETHING INCENDIARY

Serene. Inspirational.

This song reminds me of the many peaceful drives I make through the Texas hill country. Nature has a way of reminding us that things always seem to work themselves out.

I’m the fury in your head. I’m the fury in your bed. I’m the ghost in the back of your head

suzannachoffel:

oh archer you shot too low.
a steady eye, but a shaky bow.
and don’t think i did not feel that blow cause i did and i do and i’m blown away by you.
oh but you don’t have a clue.

I wholeheartedly agree with these literal words, but I find it interesting that this quote is being passed around the Occupy Wall St. movement without anyone knowing who to actually credit for the statement. The origination of the thought, and the intention behind the words, can potentially change the interpretation of the entire sentence. How can a protester honestly hold up a sign at a protest supporting a statement that they cannot even cite? When media outlets begin their discussion of the quote with: “I heard someone say once…”, “The other day, I read a sign that said…”, or “My friend in Texas told me…”, it is difficult to take their commentary seriously. Who said it? Why did they say it? And was it taken out of context?  “A definition of ‘propaganda’ insists [that] stressing controversy hampers one’s approach to an understanding of the subject.” - maybe if OWS protestors stressed facts and plausible solutions for reform over emotional exclamations that simply come off as “It’s not fair!” to the stubborn baby boomers that control our nation’s Republican party,  I bet we could get somewhere. Again, I agree with what the quote communicates, but the demonstration of how susceptible Occupy Wall St. is to propaganda is disheartening.

‎”At night before we’d go to sleep…Jack liked to play some records…I’d get out of bed at night and play it for him, when it was so cold getting out of bed…on a Victrola ten years old — and the song he loved most came at the very end of this record, the last side of Camelot, sad Camelot… ‘Don’t let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment that was known as Camelot.’ There’ll never be another Camelot again…” - Jacqueline Kennedy

Absolutely Romantic.
Bought this today for $4 at Encore Records, which is going out of business. I was never really a regular there, but every time a record store closes, a little piece of me dies inside.

MY KICKSTARTER - PLEASE SHARE

“(Beat)en Senseless” - A documentary that explores Austin’s beat music culture.

Until October of last year, I was fully aware that hip-hop was never really my thing. Electronic music never caught my attention, and I (surprisingly) had never heard of a little event called “Low End Theory.” - Little did I know.

Now, I am in the process of filming a documentary about Austin’s underground beat scene. How in the hell did that happen you ask? Two reasons: Austin possesses an intriguing and creative underground environment that instantly ignited a hunger within me for this new genre. And, when it comes to new music, I’m a fast learner.

So please take a look at this Kickstarter project I am working on with three friends.

Donate and share. - Support the underground.

Psychedelic vibes, alive and well in Austin, Texas (2011).

I had the pleasure to visit with David Brown last Wednesday in-studio for Texas Music Matters on Austin’s local NPR station, KUT. My crew and I discussed the city’s underground beat scene, its importance, and the ideas that fuel our documentary.

We can’t even begin production without your help. Equipment is expensive and we are merely poor college students.

Please re-post and share our Kickstarter. We only have 15 days to raise a little less than $4k.
